All the Employee Ownership Newsletters
All the employee ownership newsletters fit to print (and then some)
We’re proud of our little weekend newsletter, but it’s not the only regular source of info on worker ownership, employee ownership, or the ownership economy. If you’re into text rather than audio, below is where you can get some textual healing while you wait for The Stakehold to drop each week.
This list is mostly on employee ownership; it was also compiled mostly on the fly, mostly while watching plucky little Ecuador national team shock the Germans in the World Cup. 🇪🇨 ¡Vamos La Tri! 🇪🇨
Help us build out and update this list with your organization’s newsletter. If you have a URL we can link to, we’ll include it!
On employee ownership, generally:
The Employee Ownership Expansion Network (EOX) monthly Ownership Everywhere newsletter covers updates from all 20+ state-level centers for employee ownership.
Most of these states have their own newsletters; Ohio Employee Ownership Center’s Owners at Work magazine ran a print version for 30 years before becoming the Owners at Work podcast.
Social Capital Partners’ newsletter will keep you updated on all things employee ownership in Canada.
Project Equity’s newsletter includes org updates and resources for transitioning to employee ownership.
Jason Wiener PC’s monthly newsletter offers a lawyerly perspective on ownership transitions.
David Ellerman has a running series highlighting historical figures most of us don’t know were supporters of worker ownership.
Ownership Works’ new Ownership Exchange LinkedIn newsletter shares updates from its private equity affiliates.
On employee stock ownership plans (ESOPs):
The ESOP Association’s monthly ESOP Report is a good source of policy updates and news from The ESOP Association’s regional chapters.
The Employee Owned S-Corps of America (ESCA) newsletter includes the org’s announcements, volunteer opportunities, and policy updates.
The National Center for Employee Ownership (NCEO) regularly updates its useful blog And for its members, NCEO has a general monthly newsletter as well as The Download, a newsletter on ESOP communications.
Empowered Ventures’ EV Monthly shares updates with its companies and news on employee ownership.
On cooperatives generally, and worker cooperatives, specifically:
The National Cooperative Business Association’s Co-Op Weekly does what it says on the tin, and includes news on worker cooperatives and other types of cooperative business.
The International Cooperative Alliance’s Cooperative Insider shares news and events on cooperatives and the alliance’s members.
Democracy at Work Institute’s newsletter covers its news and programs and updates on worker cooperatives.
On purpose trust ownership:
The Purpose Trust Ownership (PTON) newsletter email list offers updates on the organization, purpose trusts, and employee ownership trusts.
Trust Neighborhoods’s Substack shares announcement on the organization’s work creating mixed-income neighborhood trusts (MINTs).
On ownership investing and non-extractive finance:
Transform Finance’s mailing list includes updates on its work on community-owned real estate, alternative ownership models, participatory investment, and more.
Ownership Capital Lab’s newsletter reports out on its efforts to expand investment in employee ownership.
The Predistribution Initiative’s recently launched newsletter, launched earlier this year, shares updates on its work building alternatives to extractive finance.
On other stuff, but which also include employee ownership:
The Aspen Institute Economic Opportunities Program (which co-hosts the annual Employee Ownership Ideas Forum in DC with the Rutgers Institute) posts a Monthly Digest that includes news on employee ownership as one way to improve job quality.
Elle Griffin’s The Elysian includes occasional updates on her crowd-funded book, We Should Own the Future.
Roundtable, a Substack newsletter, writes about the Catholic Worker Movement, which is friendly to worker and employee ownership.
Michael Shuman’s Main Street Journal is a Substack newsletter on local economies, and pretty simpatico with employee ownership.
What are we missing?
